Starseed Butoh Performance by Deborah Butler

Butoh (舞踏, Butō) is a form of Japanese dance theatre that encompasses a diverse range of activities, techniques and motivations for dance, performance, or movement.
Starseed is a 45 minute solo butoh dance installation by the performer exploring the arrival and awakening of a Starseed on Earth. “ Starseeds are souls who have a longing for all that’s mysterious and unknown. A Starseed is an ‘old soul’ – someone whose soul has experienced places other than Earth” (Rebecca Campbell). Starseed is a revisioning of a previous dance, titled lilies & terrors (2001).
